Hackensack pest control

We are New Jersey's top experts in wildlife and raccoon control. We are not a typical Hackensack raccoon control or pest control company. We don't treat wild animals like insects, because they are not! You can't just use poison to get rid of them. You also can't just set a few traps on the ground and call it good. Each situation is unique. And remember, if you have raccoons living in your house, it is almost certainly a female with a litter of young inside. These juveniles must be removed by hand, or they will starve to death and die. And after they are gone, the entry holes into the house must be sealed with professional repairs. Unlike most Hackensack pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas with professional grade steel
  • If in attic, we remove the baby raccoons by hand
  • Technical and human raccoon trapping appropriate to situation
  • When necessary, we clean raccoon droppings and replace insulation

Hackensack Raccoon Control Tip: How To Scare A Raccoon Away
There are many different animal species that can become a pest if they start to regularly visit or even build a nest in or around your property, and raccoons can certainly be a real nuisance despite their cute and furry appearance. The problems that the animals can cause will often be related to their scavenging behavior, and can include stealing food from pet food storage bags and ripping open garbage bags. Other issues that they can cause is related to the damage they may cause when they are building a nest, which can include tearing and shredding insulation, along with soiling the area with feces and urine. It is natural therefore to want to scare these animals away before they become a serious problem.

The Natural Instincts Of A Raccoon When They Encounter People
Raccoons are animals that have a few predators in the wild, and their natural instincts when they encounter larger animals, including people will be to flee to find a place that is well away from the potential threat. However, in an urban or suburban setting those raccoons may become used to people, and this can mean they will lose that natural instinct to flee from any people that they encounter. This means that in many cases, you won't need to scare a raccoon away if they are only visiting your garden or yard, but that job becomes more difficult if the raccoon is nesting in or around your property.

Scaring A Raccoon That Is Not Cautious Around People
If the raccoon doesn't automatically flee when it sees you, then it may have lost its caution and you will need to be a little more proactive in scaring it away. Walking towards the animal making noise and waving a broom or stick should make the raccoon flee, but be careful not to corner the animal, otherwise it may turn and try to attack you. The difficulty with this is that if there are factors attracting the raccoon to your yard or garden, it may come back when you are not there, so you may need to take further steps to prevent the raccoon from coming back to the property when you are not present.

Keeping The Raccoons Away From A Property
Raccoons are naturally cautious of animals that could pose a threat, so if you do have a large dog that is regularly in your yard or garden then this can help to keep the raccoons away, but be careful as if you encourage your dog to attack then the raccoon could scratch or bite your pet. Raccoons are nocturnal, so a bright motion-activated light can help to keep the creatures away from your yard or garden. Electric fences can also keep raccoons out, but it is important to be certain that the animal doesn't have a nest on your property, otherwise you could pen it in to your property rather than achieve what you are looking to do. If the raccoon is nesting on your property, it is best to catch it in a trap and relocate it several miles away before carrying out any work to keep the raccoon out.

Will An Audio Repellent Scare A Raccoon Away?
There are several products available that claim to be able to keep raccoons away, and among these products are audio repellents which emit a high-pitched noise that is outside of the normal hearing range for people. The first time a raccoon will encounter this noise, it may well deter it for a short period, but raccoons are clever, and if they can identify potential food sources then it may well be able to get around the device or even learn to ignore it. Unfortunately, these audio repellents aren't going to be the permanent solution to your raccoon problem.
